Dear Peninsula Preparatory Academy Families,
It is with great humility that I introduce myself as the Principal of Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School. I have been a part of the PPA family for 15 years. During those years, I have occupied several roles starting from being a Teacher’s Assistant, School Counselor, Director of Student Support Services, and most recently in the last three years I served as the Director of School Culture / 5th grade Instructional Coach. Peninsula Preparatory Academy is a school that has been dear to my heart and it is an honor for me to serve you and your children this school year.
As we are currently in the midst of a pandemic, we understand the uncertainties that many of you are facing in bringing your child to school. This pandemic has affected all of us in many different ways. As a result, our students and community as a whole have had to encounter many adversities. Yet through it all, we will continue to strive for excellence. Please rest assured that our top priority is to keep your children safe by following the protocols that we have set in place. We are also aware that some children may come to school with anxiety, having not been in a school building for such a long period of time. As a result, they may experience a hard time adjusting. For this reason, we have an in-house School Counselor who will ensure that our children’s social emotional well-being is paramount to their academic success. In collaboration with the teachers, the school counselor will visit classrooms to provide Social Emotional Learning lessons to all students and any additional support that you and your child need.
Our mantra this year at PPA is that “All students will excel!” I believe that our children have the potential to being great and it takes us as a school community to be the very compass they need to guide them to success. As mentioned during our Virtual Meet the Teacher last Thursday, education unlocks doors to many opportunities and possibilities. We at Peninsula Preparatory Academy vow to give your children our very best every single day. The teachers at PPA will provide rigorous instruction in all content areas. The students will be able to think critically, ask and answer critical questions in the classrooms while linking the real-world problems to their instruction.\n\nIn order to provide your child what he / she needs instructionally, we will administer the ELA and Math iReady Diagnostic to every student (K – 5). The purpose for the diagnostic is for us to obtain a clear picture of each student’s academic strengths and areas of growth. The teachers will then utilize this data to inform their planning as well as their pedagogy to meet every student’s need and bridge any academic gap/loss, which some of our students may have suffered during the pandemic / virtual learning.\n\nI would be remiss if I didn’t mention the administrative team I get the pleasure to work and collaborate with during this school year, Mrs. Angela Inforna, our Assistant Principal, and Mr. Jason Pierre, our Chief Operations Officer. Together with the amazing staff, we are eager and excited to welcome our children back to school. This year will require hard work, commitment, and dedication, but I can speak for the staff when I say we are all ready for the many challenges that lie ahead. We ask for your support, collaboration, and active engagement in all that we are doing this year. Our ears are always open, and we welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you may have through the school year.
I look forward to serving you and working with you as a team to help each student at Peninsula Preparatory Academy meet their goals and have a successful and exciting school year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rachele Pierre
Principal
